Continued Membership
Even if you resign from your current job, you can still continue to enjoy your LMS membership and the many benefits that come with that.
There are many advantages to continued membership:
- Transferring from your company membership to an individual member is simple.
- Contributions are deducted monthly via debit order.
- Your medical aid number remains as is.
- Your benefits will not be pro–rated (because you remain on the same scheme and option), which means you won’t have to pay any debit savings to the scheme.
- If you leave LMS and join another scheme during the course of the year, your benefits will be pro–rated and that can result in unpaid claims as a result of insufficient funds.
- When you join another scheme underwriting may also apply, this can result in a three–month general waiting period and/or a twelve–month exclusion for pre–existing conditions before you can access benefits/cover.
- In addition, Late Joiner Penalties can be imposed – resulting in inflated contributions.

- Certified copy of ID of Account holder
- Proof of bank account (bank stamped statement not older than 3 months and/or
cancelled cheque)
