Personal medical savings accounts
The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) has released instructions to medical schemes on how to handle savings accounts in the future. These changes will adversely affect schemes, beneficiaries and administrators alike and the Board of Healthcare Funders of Southern Africa has engaged the CMS requesting a review of the requirements.

The SA Institute of Chartered Accountants has also conveyed its concerns to the CMS. Feedback is now awaited from the CMS ahead of medical schemes and administrators deciding on the most appropriate course of action
